Advisory Group To Support Small Business
20th Dec 18
The Australian Government has announced the formation of a Small Business Advisory Group that will give support and advice to Australian small and family businesses.
Key Issues For The Dental Industry —
The Minister for Industry, Science and Technology the Hon. Karen Andrews, and the Minister for Small and Family Business, Skills and Vocational Education Sen. the Hon. Michaelia Cash advised that the Small Business Advisory Group will make it easier for businesses to succeed and flourish, and in turn invest, expand, and hire more local staff.
Recognising that small and family businesses are the engine room of the economy, the establishment of the advisory group ensures there is commitment to supporting these businesses.
The advisory group will be co-chaired by Minster Andrews and Senator Cash and filled out with experts in the small and family business sector. On the 10-person advisory group is:
||■ Kate Carnell AO — Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman;
■ Peter Strong — CEO of the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia;
■ Russell Zimmerman — Executive Director of the Australian Retailers Association;
■ Juliana Payne — CEO of Restaurants and Catering Australia;
■ Paul Meissner — Founder and Managing Director of 5ways Accounting;
■ Kym Clarke — Founder and Owner of She’s Empowered;
■ Matthew Addison — Executive Director of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers;
■ Michelle Melbourne — Executive Director of Intelledox;
■ John Chapman — South Australian Business Commissioner; and
■ Dominic Ooi — Director of the South West Sydney Business Enterprise Centre.
The expert knowledge and real-world experiences of the advisory group members will complement the services already available on the Government’s business website.
Small businesses employ around 99% of the private sector’s workforce and 7 million Australians and the Government advises that it is committed to helping the small business sector to grow so they can do what they do best – generate economic growth and employ more Australians.
The Small Business Advisory Group is expected to report to the co-chairs in early 2019.
